About The Position

Rosecrance is seeking a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) to provide comprehensive, patient-centered mental health care across the lifespan. This role involves assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing management of psychiatric disorders. The clinician will deliver evidence-based psychiatric services, including psychiatric evaluations, developing treatment plans, prescribing and managing medications, providing psychotherapy, coordinating care with an interdisciplinary team, and ensuring a safe and therapeutic environment in compliance with regulatory and accreditation requirements.

Requirements

  • Master’s or Doctoral level program completion from an accredited institution
  • Qualification for licensure in Illinois and eligibility for a Controlled Substances Registration Certificate (DEA)
  • Completion of accredited PMHNP program (didactic + supervised clinical hours)
  • Strong written communication skills to ensure accurate and timely completion of required documentation
  • Ability to present and coordinate lectures for clients, staff or community
  • CPR certification, or completion within three months of employment.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to meet agency insurance requirements

Responsibilities

  • Work hours prescribed and any additional hours deemed necessary for the responsibilities assigned.
  • Conduct psychiatric and health assessments, providing follow-up care and appropriate medication management.
  • Deliver brief or structured psychotherapies (e.g., CBT-informed interventions, supportive therapy, motivational interviewing) and provide psychoeducation to patients and families.
  • Collaborate with psychiatrists, primary care clinicians, therapists, social workers, and community agencies to coordinate referrals for varying levels of care.
  • Evaluate and manage acute psychiatric crises, and initiate safety planning and emergency interventions.
  • Routinely screen for substance use, trauma, and social determinants of health. Address comorbid medical conditions in coordination with primary care and promote lifestyle interventions supporting mental health.
  • Maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation that adheres to state scope-of-practice laws and collaborative agreements. Follow appropriate prescribing regulations (controlled substances, PDMP review).
  • Participate in quality initiatives, support evidence-based practice implementation, and engage in ongoing continuing education.
  • Participate in Performance Improvement initiatives as assigned.
  • Engage in Infection Control activities and stay informed about current infection control practices.
  • Maintain certification in adult and infant/child CPR.
  • Understand and comply with all of the principles established by the Rosecrance Corporate Compliance Program and Code of Conduct.
  • Assume other related responsibilities as assigned by leadership.
  • As assigned, performs CLIA-waved laboratory testing and related quality control activities in accordance with CLIA requirements, manufacturer instructions, infection control protocols, and organizational procedures.

  • Starting Pay: $128,752.00 year (based on education, experience, and credentials)
