Nurse Practitioner, Psychiatric Emergency Consult
About The Position
We are seeking a per diem Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner to provide on-site weekend psychiatric consultation services, including Emergency Department consultations, at Salem Hospital. Opportunities to provide additional weekday psychiatric consult coverage are available on an as-needed basis. The Nurse Practitioner (NP) is a licensed provider. This NP position works explicitly in a psychiatric setting, providing psychiatric assessments and establishing comprehensive plans that address a broad range of concerns for patients with psychiatric disorders. May perform additional duties, such as precepting a small group of learners.
Requirements
- Master's Degree Nursing required
- Nurse Practitioner [NP - State License] - Generic - HR Only required
- 2 years of experience as a psychiatric nurse practitioner required
Responsibilities
- Provides direct care, counseling, and teaching to psychiatric patients.
- Complete biopsychosocial and psychopharmalogical evaluations on patients.
- Performs complete histories and physical examinations.
- Orders, interprets, and evaluates appropriate laboratory and diagnostic tests.
- Develops appropriate plans of care and follow-up based on the outcomes of diagnostic, laboratory, and physical examination findings.
- Orders medications and writes prescriptions according to organizational and regulatory policies and procedures.
- Consistently provides high-quality and timely documentation, including admission and progress notes, procedure notes, operative notes, and discharge summaries.
- Performs bedside procedures as are appropriate to the patient population.
