Our agency is seeking a dedicated Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner to join our team in serving individuals navigating substance use disorders, emotional and behavioral disturbances and other complex mental health needs. In our nonprofit setting, you will have the opportunity to build genuine connections with patients while delivering thoughtful care that meets people where there are. Our patients may be typical patients seen in a primary care setting or they may have chemical dependency, emotional or behavioral disturbance and/or other psychiatric diagnoses.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Nursing and completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program required
  • Current licensure and Certificate of Authority to practice as a nurse practitioner in the state of Ohio required; PMHNP-BC preferred
  • BLS & ACLS certification
  • Ability to work independently, but also able to collaborate effectively with other staff members to provide quality patient care

Nice To Haves

  • 2+ years' experience in behavioral health environment preferred

Responsibilities

  • Interview patients about symptoms and complaints and determine whether a psychiatric disorder has a physiological or emotional basis.
  • Diagnose patient conditions and their causes.
  • Screen patients for physical illness and analyze explanations for psychiatric illness, such as developmental issues, family dysfunction, genetics, neurological trauma or social or cultural problems.
  • Assessment of risk factors for mental illness
  • Provide a range of therapies for patients in care.
  • Monitor patients use while on medications and document treatment results.
  • Intervene with therapy or medication for patients experiencing a mental crisis.
  • Track patient progress and report their results to doctors, including psychiatrists and psychologists.
  • Work with other medical professionals to evaluate or change treatment plans.
