About The Position

This role involves providing advanced practice care across various settings within Radiology and hospital units. For Radiology assignments, under the direction of a supervising radiologist, the practitioner will review consultations for radiology procedures, obtain patient history and physical examinations, explain procedures and obtain informed consents, and perform fluoroscopic radiographic procedures. These procedures include, but are not limited to, Rehab Modified Barium Swallows, Upper GIs, Small Bowel Follow-throughs, Chest Fluoroscopy, and Voiding Cystograms. For Inpatient assignments, the practitioner will assist the attending physician in the care and management of patients on Inpatient units, including making patient rounds, contributing to daily care decisions, writing orders, interacting with consultants, and coordinating diagnostic and therapeutic tests and procedures. Frequent bedside visits to assess patient status and direct care are expected. Clinic and Emergency Department assignments involve providing comprehensive medical care, including taking medical histories, performing physical examinations, coordinating tests, prescribing medications, and patient education. ICU assignments require assisting the attending ICU physician with patient care, rounds, orders, and coordination of tests and procedures, with frequent bedside visits. Acute Care ARNP or PA is required for Emergency Department and ICU assignments.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Nursing and Physician Assistant
  • Completion of accredited Registered Radiologist Assistant (RRA) program with ARRT certification and Registered Radiologist Assistant credential
  • Must meet requirements set forth by the Medical Staff Office to obtain and retain privileges to practice as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse/ Physician Assistant or Registered Radiologist Assistant within UF Health Shands Hospital and/or the Shands UF Healthcare Network, as applicable
  • Current and clear license as a Registered Radiologist Assistant, Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) or Physician Assistant (PA) in the State of Florida
  • BLS is required
  • Acute Care ARNP or PA Required (for ED and ICU assignments)

Responsibilities

  • Review consultations for radiology procedures
