About The Position

The Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant will assist in providing medical and nursing services to support Navy Recruiting Command (NRC) in program areas: reviewing medical accession and program entry cases submitted via the electronic waiver tracking system (currently Webwave II) and provide clinical recommendations based on those reviews. NRCs mission is to ensure all applicants meet physical and mental standards to perform required duties, support Navy operational readiness, and be worldwide deployable. Medical review activities include evaluation of medical documentation for both enlisted and officer applicants, determination of compliance with DoD and Department of the Navy (DON) medical standards, and preparation of formal recommendations to CNRC for final waiver determinations. Similar review processes may also be required for Fleet Programs, special duty designations, and reconsideration or appeal cases.

Requirements

  • Graduate of Nurse Practitioner (NP) program.
  • Graduation from an accredited medical school, PA program (ARCPA), or nursing school (NLNAC/CCNE).
  • Certification by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) orAmerican Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) as a Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner (CRNP).
  • Current, active, and unrestricted license (physician, PA, or NP) to practice nursing in the United States.
  • Experience in Occupational Medicine, Internal Medicine, or Family Practice.
  • Biannual certification in BLS for Healthcare Provider CPR.
  • Minimum of one (1) year experience providing medical fitness for duty recommendations for law enforcement candidates and incumbents.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen
  • Requires a DoD Security Clearance
  • Tier 3 [Secret] Background Investigation - National Agency Check with Law and Credit Check, and fingerprints. (Standard Form 86).
