About The Position

The Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant at Marist Health Services provides high quality, student-centered primary and acute care within a multidisciplinary university health service. This role emphasizes holistic, developmentally appropriate clinical care for a diverse student population, including acute and chronic illness management, health promotion, education, and wellness support. The NP/PA collaborates closely with physicians, nurses, mental health professionals, and campus partners to advance the health and well-being of the campus community. The anticipated start date for the position is Monday, August 24 th , 2026.

Requirements

  • For Nurse Practitioners: Master’s Degree or Post Master’s Certificate from an accredited school of nursing and three years of experience as a Nurse Practitioner required; college health experience preferred.
  • For Physician Assistants: Master’s Degree in Physician Assistant Studies from an accredited school and three years of experience as a Physician Assistant required; college health experience preferred.
  • Candidate must have current Board Certification as a Family or Adult Nurse Practitioner, be NCCPA certified if a PA, New York State license, BLS certificate, and Certificate of Infection Control.

Nice To Haves

  • Past Electronic Medical Record experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Clinical Care Provide comprehensive primary care to college students, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and follow up for acute and chronic conditions, including mental health conditions.
  • Conduct physical examinations, order and interpret diagnostic tests, and develop evidence-based treatment plans.
  • Perform clinical procedures within scope of practice (e.g., wound care, splinting, gynecologic exams).
  • Prescribe medications and therapeutic treatments in accordance with state and organizational regulations.
  • Manage women’s health, sexual and reproductive health, STI testing/treatment, contraception, and LGBTQ+ inclusive care.
  • Provide urgent care services for minor injuries and illnesses.
  • Coordinate referrals to specialists, emergency care, or mental health services as needed.
  • Provide emergency response in the Health Service office and immediate vicinity, including administration of first aid, assistance with emergency transportation, and appropriate referrals.
  • Health Promotion & Education Provide counseling on nutrition, sexual health, substance use, sleep, stress management, and preventive care.
  • Participate in campus health outreach programs, workshops, and wellness initiatives.
  • Support public health efforts, including immunization compliance, communicable disease response, and health education campaigns, including working with the county department of health on community-wide health concerns.
  • Collaboration & Communication Work collaboratively with a team of clinicians, counselors, nurses, health educators, and administrative staff.
  • Communicate effectively with students, families (as appropriate), faculty, and staff while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary case reviews, quality improvement initiatives, and staff meetings.
  • Collaborate on projects, committees, and events with staff across campus, including within Student Affairs, Academic Affairs, Athletics, and Operations.
  • Administrative Responsibilities Maintain accurate and timely electronic health records (EHR) in compliance with HIPAA and institutional policies.
  • Assist with developing and updating clinical protocols and policies.
  • Participate in continuing education to maintain licensure and ensure clinical best practices.
  • Contribute to accreditation, data reporting, and program evaluation as needed.
  • Participate in NY State requirements for compliance with onsite clinical laboratory procedures.
  • Collaborate in selection of medical supplies and equipment.
  • Serve as clinical site mentor for certain Marist health science students (Athletic Training, Physician Assistant)
  • Perform other job-related duties as required

  • Tuition Benefits: Up to 16 undergraduate credits per semester. Up to 18 graduate credit per academic calendar. Eligibility extends to employee, spouse, and dependent children under age 26. University pays 100% tuition only. Eligible dependents may be Reimbursed up to $2,000 per semester towards tuition at another accredited institution. Eligibility requirements including waiting periods and/or employee probationary periods may apply at the discretion of the University.
