Nurse Practitioner / Physician Assistant
About The Position
OSMC is seeking two Advanced Practice Providers (APP), which refers to a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant with advanced training, to join their organization. The APP will provide an advanced level of medical care, independently performing medical tasks and collaborating with physicians. Responsibilities include assessing and treating patients, ordering and analyzing diagnostic images, educating on pre and post-operative care, diagnosing health problems, developing and implementing treatment plans, evaluating patient outcomes, collaborating with or referring to physicians, and assisting orthopedic surgeons during surgical procedures, wound closure, and casting. One position is based in the Elkhart hospital, requiring collaboration with surgeons, the emergency department, hospitalists, and other specialties, as well as managing daily progress notes. The other position is clinic-based, primarily at the Elkhart California Road corporate office, with the expectation of travel between OSMC locations. Both roles involve constructing patient castings, joint injections, aspirations, and managing wound vac placements.
Requirements
- Master's Degree from an accredited (ARC-PA) Physician Assistant program (for Physician Assistant)
- Certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) (for Physician Assistant)
- State licensure as a Physician Assistant (for Physician Assistant)
- Controlled substance license and DEA registration (for Physician Assistant)
- CSR Prescriptive Authority (for Physician Assistant)
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) (for Physician Assistant)
- Master's Degree from an accredited (APRN) Advanced Practice Registered Nurse Program (for Nurse Practitioner)
- Certification as an Adult or Family Advanced Practitioner through the American Nurse Credentialing Center (ANCC), the Nurse Practitioner Credentialing Center (NPCC) or the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) (for Nurse Practitioner)
- State licensure as an APRN (for Nurse Practitioner)
- Controlled substance license and DEA registration (for Nurse Practitioner)
- CSR Prescriptive Authority (for Nurse Practitioner)
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) (for Nurse Practitioner)
Nice To Haves
- 5+ years' experience in an Ortho setting is preferred
