About The Position

American Family Care (AFC) is seeking a PRN Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to provide urgent care services in an outpatient setting. The role offers clinical autonomy and flexibility while working with a collaborative clinical team. Providers commit to at least one shift per week, one weekend per month, and one holiday per year, with the option to take on additional shifts as needed. The position has no overnight shifts or call duties and includes ongoing professional development and CME resources.

Requirements

Certified Nurse Practitioner (ANCC or AANP) with an active state license, or Certified Physician Assistant (NCCPA) with an active state license.
At least 2 years of experience in urgent care, family medicine, or emergency care.
Skill in urgent care procedures and comfort working in a fast-paced clinic.
Excellent communication skills and a patient-centered mindset.
Active BLS certification, or ability to obtain it within the defined onboarding period.

Responsibilities

Assess, diagnose, and treat patients of all ages in an urgent care setting.
Manage acute conditions, infections, and injuries.
Perform minor procedures such as suturing, splinting, and incision and drainage.
Conduct comprehensive physicals, including DOT and employment exams.
Order and interpret diagnostic tests, including labs, X-rays, and EKGs.
Counsel patients on care plans and preventive health strategies.
Maintain accurate and timely documentation.
Collaborate with supervising physicians and team members to ensure quality care.
