Nurse Practitioner / Physician Assistant

OSMC is currently offering two exciting opportunities for Advanced Practice Providers (APP) to join our organization. An Advanced Practice Provider (APP) refers to a healthcare professional, including a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant, who has advanced training and can provide an advanced level of medical tasks independently and collaborates with a physician. The APP will assess and treat patients using advanced clinical knowledge and skills to identify abnormal conditions, order and analyze diagnostic images, educate on pre and post operative care, diagnose health problems, develop and implement treatment plans, evaluate patient outcomes, and collaborate with or refer to physicians in the practice and community, as well as assist orthopedic surgeons during surgical procedures, wound closure and casting.
Requirements
- Master's Degree from an accredited (ARC-PA) Physician Assistant program
- Certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
- State licensure as a Physician Assistant
- Controlled substance license and DEA registration
- CSR Prescriptive Authority
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
- Master's Degree from an accredited (APRN) Advanced Practice Registered Nurse Program
- Certification as an Adult or Family Advanced Practitioner through the American Nurse Credentialing Center (ANCC), the Nurse Practitioner Credentialing Center (NPCC) or the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP)
- State licensure as an APRN
- Controlled substance license and DEA registration
- CSR Prescriptive Authority
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
Nice To Haves
- 5+ years' experience in an Ortho setting is preferred
Responsibilities
- Assess and treat patients using advanced clinical knowledge and skills
- Identify abnormal conditions

- Collaborate with or refer to physicians in the practice and community

- Create plans with close collaboration with the surgeon in attendance (hospital-based)
- Refer and collaborate with the emergency department physician, the hospitalist team, and other supporting specialties (hospital-based)
- Manage daily progress notes on our patients (hospital-based)
- Construct patient castings (hospital-based)
- Perform joint injections (hospital-based)
- Perform aspirations (hospital-based)
- Manage wound vac placements (hospital-based)
