Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant - Stroke
About The Position
Dent Neurologic Institute is hiring a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant for its Stroke department in Amherst. The role is focused on caring for patients with neurologic conditions and developing expertise in a subspecialty. Dent provides outpatient neurologic care through an open-access service model, supported by provider teams and clinic staff. The position offers a choice of full-time or part-time work: full-time is four 10-hour days, Monday through Friday; part-time requires 20 hours per week. There are no overnight shifts, hospital requirements, on-call requirements, or weekend work for this clinic. The role includes support from a dedicated Clinic Director and staff across reception, medical assistance, checkout, billing, prior authorization, and rooming. Annual CME allowance and additional education opportunities are available, including APP Rounds and periodic EMR, coding, and billing reviews. Compensation is based on experience; new graduates typically start at a $95,000–$100,000 base salary, and eligible Advanced Practice Providers may receive semi-annual bonuses.
Requirements
- Active New York State license as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner, free from restrictions.
- Experienced or newly graduated Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner with a strong desire to develop expertise in a subspecialty.
- Solid understanding of examination methodologies and diagnostics.
- Broad knowledge of common and specialty medications, side effects, and contraindications.
- In-depth knowledge of legal medical guidelines and medical standard methodologies.
