The Cardiac Center at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) is seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our advanced practice team in a unique split role across the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU) and Cardiac Care Unit (CCU). This position offers the opportunity to provide high-quality, family-centered care to infants, children, and young adults with complex congenital and acquired heart disease across the full continuum of cardiac care. As part of a nationally recognized, multidisciplinary program—comprising Cardiology, Cardiothoracic Surgery, Cardiothoracic Anesthesia, Cardiac Critical Care Medicine, and Cardiac Nursing—the APP will collaborate closely with a diverse team to manage patients ranging from critically ill post-operative and transplant populations in the CICU to medically complex patients requiring continuous monitoring and advanced therapies in the CCU. The CICU is a 38-bed unit caring for critically ill children pre- and post-cardiac surgery, as well as those awaiting transplantation. CHOP’s cardiac surgical program performs more than 850 procedures annually, including open and closed heart surgeries and heart transplantation, with outcomes among the best in the nation. In both the CICU and CCU, the APP will be responsible for comprehensive patient assessment, diagnostic interpretation, medical management, and coordination of care across disciplines and care settings. APPs provide 24/7 coverage and play an integral role in patient and family education, perioperative management, and quality and safety initiatives. This role offers the opportunity to work within a highly collaborative environment while contributing to innovation, education, and community and global outreach efforts within one of the leading pediatric cardiac programs in the country.
