About The Position

The Center for Perioperative Medicine (CPM) at the University of Rochester is seeking a full-time Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) to join their team. This position is primarily responsible for working with preoperative surgical patients in both hospital and ambulatory surgical centers. The main goals of the CPM are to ensure patients are optimally prepared for surgery, enhance patient outcomes, and minimize preventable operating room cancellations and delays. The NP/PA will collaborate with anesthesiologists, surgeons, nursing staff, and other established APPs. Experience with both adult and pediatric patients is preferred, but experienced adult APPs with NYS NP/PA licensure will be considered. The role involves participating in the education of learners, including students and new employees, through clinical learning experiences, knowledge sharing, and skill training.

Requirements

• NYS NP/PA licensure
• MS degree
• Current/pending national certification as an Nurse Practitioner upon hire
• Master's degree as a Nurse Practitioner
• Active New York State Registered Nurse license in good standing
• Active New York State Nurse Practitioner licensure in good standing
• Current national certification as an Nurse Practitioner
• Completion of an ARC-PA approved Physician Assistant program
• Active New York State Physician Assistant licensure in good standing
• Current national certification as a Physician Assistant by NCCPA (National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants)
• Demonstrate clinical competence
• Superior verbal and written communication skills
• Interpersonal effectiveness and customer relation skills
• Computer competence
• Active desire to learn

Nice To Haves

• Preferably able to work with adult and pediatric patients
• 3-5 years medical/surgical experience preferred

Responsibilities
