About The Position

The University of Rochester is seeking a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) for a full-time position in Urology, serving the Sawgrass/Geneseo locations. This role involves providing patient care in collaboration with a medical staff member, focusing on general urology with an emphasis on bladder dysfunction and reconstructive urology. The position is primarily clinical, with opportunities for training and involvement in basic urologic procedures within a fast-paced clinic environment. The APP will also collaborate with the Urology team in managing patients pre- and post-operatively, conducting office visits for new, follow-up, postoperative, and urgent cases, and completing dictations. Responsibilities include evaluating patients, ordering tests, consulting with the urology team, and occasional pre-admission testing for emergent surgeries. Strong communication and clinical skills are essential. Periodic travel to regional sites in Geneseo may be required.

Requirements

  • Master's degree as a Nurse Practitioner (for NP role).
  • Active New York State Registered Nurse license in good standing (for NP role).
  • Active New York State Nurse Practitioner licensure in good standing (for NP role).
  • Current national certification as an Nurse Practitioner (for NP role).
  • Completion of an ARC-PA approved Physician Assistant program (for PA role).
  • Active New York State Physician Assistant licensure in good standing (for PA role).
  • Current national certification as a Physician Assistant by NCCPA (for PA role).
  • Demonstrate clinical competence.
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills.
  • Interpersonal effectiveness and customer relation skills.
  • Computer competence.
  • Active desire to learn.

Nice To Haves

  • Urology experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide patient care in collaboration with a member of the medical staff of URMC clinical services.
  • Focus on general urology with an emphasis on bladder dysfunction and reconstructive urology.
  • Primarily clinical role with training and involvement in basic urologic procedures.
  • Collaborate with the Urology team in providing care to patients in the pre-operative and post-operative period.
  • Conduct office visits including new, follow-ups, postoperative, and urgent patients.
  • Complete dictations on all visits.
  • Evaluate patients, order necessary tests, and consult with the urology team.
  • Perform occasional pre-admission testing for emergent surgeries.
  • Participate in the education of learners (students and new employees) using clinical learning experiences, knowledge sharing, and skill training.
  • May include travel to regional sites Geneseo periodically.
