About The Position
VitalCore Health Strategies (VCHS), an industry leader in Correctional Health Care has an opening for a Full-Time (40 hours) Day Shift Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant at MCI-Shirley in Shirley, MA. The NP/PA utilizes the medical model to meet a variety of healthcare needs with ambulatory care as their primary focus in a correctional environment. The NP/PA works with a variety of healthcare professionals/security officers in a correctional environment to provide basic medical services supervised by a licensed Physician.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited college/university NP / PA program
- Must possess current licenses or certifications in the state of MA
- Maintains required annual licensure and credentialing requirements for Physician Assistants / Nurse Practitioners in the healthcare unit.
Nice To Haves
- Experience in Correctional desired but not required
Responsibilities
- Responds to and initiates care for medical emergencies throughout the facility.
- Identifies patient health problems and prescribes treatment under the direction of a physician.
- Implements medical care utilizing therapeutic regimens approved by a Physician.
- Provides education to inmate/patient, healthcare staff, and correctional staff.
- Documents all healthcare contacts.
- Adheres to safety and security policies and participates in disaster drills. Follows security regulations for keys, sharps, and controlled medications.
- Delegates to and supervises other team members as appropriate.
- Adheres to Universal Precautions and other appropriate infection control practices.
- Attends training and meetings as required.
