This is an exciting opportunity for an Advanced Practice Provider (NP or PA) in an established OB/GYN office that specializes in menopause and mid-life women’s health. The role involves collaboration with physicians and APPs to assess mid-life women and their healthcare needs. The provider will offer gynecology care for women across the lifespan with a focus on mid-life health, including symptom management for menopause, contraception, hormone therapy, management of mid-life GYN concerns, and preventative GYN care. The position requires a strong understanding of advanced concepts, practices, and procedures within the chosen field, relying on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Responsibilities include securing complete health histories, performing physical examinations with an emphasis on the reproductive system, ordering and interpreting labs and diagnostic studies, and providing health instruction. The APP will also participate in the education of learners.

Requirements

  • Current NYS license with national certification.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with diverse staff and clients.
  • Master's degree as a Nurse Practitioner (for NP role).
  • Active New York State Registered Nurse license in good standing (for NP role).
  • Active New York State Nurse Practitioner licensure in good standing (for NP role).
  • Current national certification as an Nurse Practitioner (for NP role).
  • Completion of an ARC-PA approved Physician Assistant program (for PA role).
  • Active New York State Physician Assistant licensure in good standing (for PA role).
  • Current national certification as a Physician Assistant by NCCPA (for PA role).
  • Demonstrate clinical competence.
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills.
  • Interpersonal effectiveness and customer relation skills.
  • Computer competence.
  • Must have an active desire to learn.

  • Experience with specialized GYN procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Assess mid-life women and their healthcare needs in collaboration with physicians and APPs.
  • Provide gynecology care for women across the lifespan with a focus on mid-life health.
  • Manage menopause symptoms, contraception, and menopause hormone therapy.
  • Manage mid-life GYN concerns and provide preventative GYN care.
  • Secure a complete health history, including obstetric, gynecologic, contraceptive, medical, surgical, sexual, family health, and psychosocial.
  • Record findings accurately and succinctly.
  • Perform physical examinations with special emphasis on the reproductive system, including breast examinations and pelvic examinations.
  • Perform cancer screening tests and diagnose sexually transmitted infections (STIs).
  • Perform, order, and interpret labs and diagnostic studies as indicated.
  • Provide relevant health instruction including family planning, nutrition, sexual counseling, and principles of health promotion and maintenance.
  • Participate in the education of learners (students and new employees), using clinical learning experiences, knowledge sharing and skill training.
