About The Position

Explore an exciting opportunity with AHWFB Pediatric Hematology & Oncology Department as we eagerly welcome a skilled Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our dynamic inpatient team in Winston-Salem, NC. We are proud to be the region's leading center for the treatment of cancer and blood disorders in children, with over 30 years of experience participating in national trials to advance the understanding and treatment of cancer in infants, children, and adolescents. As a dedicated healthcare professional in our Pediatric Hematology & Oncology team, you will collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare providers to diagnose, treat, and manage pediatric oncology patients, ensuring comprehensive care throughout their treatment journey. Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant Program; Master's Degree preferred
  • Current North Carolina Medical Board Medical License, Certified by NCCPA
  • Prior provider experience preferred.
  • BLS, ACLS and PALS required.
  • Current Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) required to start
  • Graduation from accredited Nurse Practitioner Master's Program, Master's degree or higher required
  • Current North Carolina Board of Nursing Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner license
  • Board certified as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Acute Care Pediatric Nurse Practitioner by AANP or ANCC

Responsibilities

  • Performing comprehensive examinations and evaluations, primarily in the inpatient setting, with flexibility to support infusion and clinic coverage as needed.
  • Using medical decision-making skills to determine appropriate patient care plan.
  • Collaborating with the medical team when needed for effective team-based care.
  • Ordering and interpreting laboratory studies and diagnostic procedures.
  • Explaining the necessity, preparation, nature, and anticipated effects of scheduled diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to the patient.
  • Performing procedural skills per department or practice guidelines.
  • Participating in basic science and clinical research projects.
  • Precepting students and/or medical learners.
  • Upholding AHWFB missions, values, and cultural commitment.
  • Performing other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
  • Functioning under the regulatory mandate from their respective licensing organization (North Carolina Medical Board or North Carolina Board of Nursing) with departmental specific credentialing from the institution.
