About The Position

The Pediatric or Family Nurse Practitioner (PNP or FNP) is a registered nurse with advanced education and training in pediatrics. A Physician assistant is an advanced practice provider with advanced education and training in managing all ages. The PNP/PA provides comprehensive, patient-centered care to children and adolescents in the emergency department setting. The PNP/PA works collaboratively with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure the highest quality of care for patients and their families.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Nursing OR a Masters in Physician Assistant studies
  • State of Michigan Pediatric Nurse Practitioner or Family Nurse Practitioner, or Physician Assistant license required
  • AHA/ARC BLS certification required

Nice To Haves

  • 2 years’ experience as an Advanced Practice Provider in a Pediatric Emergency or Pediatrics setting, preferred.
  • Previous nursing experience in Pediatric Emergency or Pediatrics preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong clinical judgment and decision-making skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive physical examinations of children and adolescents in the emergency department
  • Diagnose and treat common pediatric illnesses and injuries
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests, such as blood tests, X-rays, and imaging studies
  • Develop and implement treatment plans for pediatric patients
  • Educate patients and families about their health conditions and treatment options
  • Provide emotional support and guidance to patients and families
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives
  • Stay up-to-date on current pediatric medical knowledge and best practices
