About The Position

The Palliative Care APP collaborates with an interdisciplinary team to care for patients with serious illness. The focus of this care is reducing the symptoms of stress of the illness with a goal of improving quality of life for the patient and their caregivers. This patient-centered approach supports the physical, mental, emotional, and existential effects of suffering with a serious illness and helps to ensure that recommended treatments align with the patient’s goals. Currently, duties include inpatient palliative care with the possibility of outpatient work in the future. The position requires a high level of customer service skills to establish and enhance relationships with patients, co-workers, and others.

Requirements

  • NP: Master's degree in nursing
  • PA: Bachelor’s degree in a health/science-related field
  • Current licensure as a registered nurse in appropriate state (NP)
  • Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner in appropriate state (NP)
  • Current licensure as a physician assistant in appropriate state (PA)
  • Current certification in CPR (NP and PA)
  • National certification in applicable area (NP)
  • National certification (PA)
  • Successful completion of Essentia Health credentialing process prior to practice (NP and PA)
  • Minimum of 1-year post-degree clinical APRN experience
  • Ability to work independently

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in Palliative Medicine strongly preferred.
