Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) is hiring for a full-time Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to work with their IMPACT-IRD program. In collaboration with several attending physicians in different divisions, the APP will be responsible for the direct care and follow-up of a population of patients that matches his/her delineation of privileges and skill set. The components of the role include clinical practice, consultation, professional development, education and research. The APP will be involved in the outpatient care of patients navigating the entire spectrum of cell therapy including initial referral, bridging therapies, preparation, and peri- and post-cell therapy care. This individual may care for patients undergoing CAR T cell therapy, allogeneic transplant, and cell-based gene therapies. The APP will help lead coordination of care of these highly complex patients, many of whom will be treated on clinical trials. The IMPACT-IRD program is an interdisciplinary group of physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, researchers, and administrative staff who collaborate to improve the outcomes for patients with immune regulatory disorders using cellular therapies. Immune regulatory disorders (IRDs) encompass a variety of disorders ranging from monogenic inborn errors of immunity to rheumatologic conditions. Recently, the paradigm for treating these diseases has changed: instead of lifelong management, we have the potential for cure using cellular therapy approaches such as hematopoietic cell transplantation (HCT) and chimeric antigen receptor T cell therapy (CAR T). The program is composed of experts in the fields of cellular therapy, rheumatology, immunology and gastroenterology, all of whom bring a unique perspective to care of these complex patients. The program also includes APPs and nurse navigators, as well as administrative, psychosocial and other support staff. Our goal is to establish CHOP as a premier center for delivery of cellular therapies for immune dysregulation. We will do this by establishing a world-class clinical, translational, and basic science program to improve outcomes of patients of all ages with IRDs.
