About The Position

As an Advanced Practice Provider, you'll play an integral role in our inpatient and ambulatory care teams by providing high-quality, cost-effective care to patients. At the American Family Children’s Hospital, we are a part of the Carbone Cancer Center, Wisconsin’s only comprehensive cancer center as designated by the National Cancer Institute. We provide cutting edge research and world class patient care. We are seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to: Independently conduct comprehensive or episodic health history and physical assessment of pediatric patients with hematologic and oncologic diagnoses in the inpatient setting. Primarily manage a subset of inpatient heme/onc patients including preparing and signing chemotherapy treatment plans and orders Perform procedures as indicated such as bone marrow biopsies and lumbar punctures Collaborate with the wide range of Nursing and Physician specialists available at AFCH At UW Health, you will have: An excellent benefits package, including health and dental insurance, paid time off, retirement plans, two-week paid parental leave and adoption assistance. Requirements

  • If Nurse Practitioner: Master’s or Doctorate’s degree from accredited Nursing Program.
  • If Physician Assistant: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from accredited PA Program.
  • Minimum – State of Wisconsin NP or PA licensure
  • If Nurse Practitioner: Active RN and APRN certifications and licenses, including prescriptive authority, in state(s) of practice AND Active board certification as a NP in area of clinical practice. These may include the following: Pediatric Primary Care or Pediatric Acute Care.
  • If Physician Assistant: Active PA license, including prescriptive authority, in state(s) of practice AND Active PA board certification
  • All Nurse Practitioner and Physician Assistant applicants must have: Active DEA license or ability to apply for such license prior to or upon hire
