About The Position

Our Gastroenterology practice is located at 55 Highland Avenue, Suite 101, in Salem, MA. We diagnose and treat diseases of the esophagus, stomach, small intestine, large intestine, colon, rectum, liver, gallbladder, pancreas and biliary tract. We also provide endoscopy services at Salem Hospital and at the collaborative gastroenterology practice in the Mass General/North Shore Center for Outpatient Care in Danvers, MA. We are seeking a full-time, 40-hour Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) to support our practices onsite (both Salem and Danvers) while working in a pod model. The main focus will be evaluation/management of outpatient GI patients with consults, follow-ups, and sick/urgent visits. The desired schedule is Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 5:00pm. The anticipated breakdown is 36 clinical/patient facing hours and 4 hours dedicated to administrative time. The Nurse Practitioner (NP) is a licensed provider. The NP is responsible for assessing and managing various patient populations, including those with medical and/or surgical conditions, as well as providing diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, developing appropriate plans of care, and conducting ongoing evaluations. May also perform additional duties, such as precepting a small group of learners.

Requirements

Master's Degree Nursing required
Advanced Practice Registered Nurse [APRN-NP - State License] - Generic - HR Only required
2 years of licensed nurse practitioner experience 1-2 years required
Minimum of 2 years of experience as an NP or PA in Gastroenterology required.

Responsibilities

Provides direct care, counseling, and education to a designated patient population in ambulatory, inpatient, operative, and/or procedural settings.
Performs complete histories and physical examinations.
Orders, interprets, and evaluates appropriate laboratory and diagnostic tests.
Develops appropriate plans of care and follow-up based on the outcomes of diagnostic, laboratory, and physical examination findings.
Orders medications and writes prescriptions according to organizational and regulatory policies and procedures.
Consistently provides high-quality and timely documentation, including admission and progress notes, procedure notes, operative notes, and discharge summaries.
Performs bedside procedures as are appropriate to the patient population.
Precepting a small group of learners.
