About The Position

Provides assistant surgical services in the operating room as well as other selected medical services under the direction of the surgeon. Accountabilities include providing general surgical assistant services in the operating room, assisting the surgeon with prepping and until completion of procedure, removing drains, tubes, and catheters, closing incisions, assisting with patient office visits, and assuming call when assigned. The role also involves performing all charting, summaries, correspondence, and required paperwork for documentation and billing. Additionally, the position participates in physician educational programs, quality assurance programs, utilization management programs, selection of management information systems, development of patient education and satisfaction surveys, and assists in the development of operational and capital budgets. The role also participates in operational assessments for revenue enhancement, expense reductions, consolidation efficiencies, and billing opportunities, and assists in the post-operative care of patients including daily rounds and wound assessments.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree - Nursing; Nurse Practitioner Degree Emphasis or Program Certificate equivalent
  • 1 year - Clinical experience
  • SC Nurse Practitioner
  • CPR Certification - Required
  • Completion of Nurse Practitioner Surgical Residency Program
  • Patient Equip (Vitals, Suction, Defib)
  • Surgical assistant skills

Responsibilities

  • Provides general surgical assistant services in operating room.

  • Participates in: Establishment of quality assurance programs, Establishment of Utilization Management programs, Selection of management information systems, Development of patient education surveys, Development of patient satisfaction surveys.
  • Assists in the development of operational and capital budgets.
  • Participates in operational assessments in search of revenue enhancement, expense reductions, consolidation efficiencies and billing opportunities.
  • Assists in post-operative care of patients including daily rounds and wound assessments.
