About The Position

As an Advanced Practice Provider (APP) in a busy, established OB/GYN office, you will collaborate with physicians and other APPs to assess and provide comprehensive women's health care across the lifespan. This includes antenatal and postpartum care, preventative gynecological care, and management of obstetric and gynecological needs. You will utilize your experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals, relying on advanced concepts and procedures within your field. Responsibilities include securing complete health histories, performing physical examinations with a focus on the reproductive system, ordering and interpreting diagnostic studies, and providing patient education on family planning, nutrition, sexual counseling, and health promotion. You will also participate in the education of learners and contribute to customer-focused goals.

Requirements

  • Current NYS license with national certification.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with diverse staff and clients.
  • Require a Master's degree as a Nurse Practitioner, an active New York State Registered Nurse license in good standing, an active New York State Nurse Practitioner licensure in good standing and current national certification as an Nurse Practitioner.
  • Required completion of an ARC-PA approved Physician Assistant program, an active New York State Physician Assistant licensure in good standing and current national certification as a Physician Assistant by NCCPA (National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants).
  • Demonstrate clinical competence, superior verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal effectiveness and customer relation skills, computer competence and must have an active desire to learn.

Responsibilities

  • Assess the obstetric and gynecological needs of patients.
  • Provide women’s health care across the lifespan including antenatal and postpartum care and preventative GYN care.
  • Rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
  • Secure a complete health history, including obstetric, gynecologic, contraceptive, medical, surgical, sexual, family health, and psychosocial; and record findings accurately and succinctly.
  • Perform physical examinations with special emphasis on the reproductive system, including breast examinations, pelvic examination, cancer screening tests, diagnosis of sexually transmitted infections (STIs), and other types of more specialized procedures as may be indicated by medical policy.
  • Participate in accomplishing customer-focused goals.
  • Provide referrals and assure follow-up.
  • Perform, order and interpret labs, and diagnostic studies as indicated.
  • Provide relevant health instruction to include family planning, nutrition, sexual counseling, and principles of health promotion and maintenance.
  • Participate in the education of learners (students and new employees), using clinical learning experiences, knowledge sharing and skill training.
