NP/PA - Cardiology Ellison 11 Responding Clinician - MGH
About The Position
The APP will be the primary clinical "responding clinician" for Ellison 11 inpatient cardiology patients. This includes patients with heart failure and valvular heart disease undergoing specialty valve procedures including TAVR, Mitral Clip, and tricuspid valve repair. The APP will manage patients collaboratively with an attending cardiologist or Cardiology hospitalist. They will be responsible for day-to-day management, ordering meds, tests, and daily assessment of patients. The APP will coordinate testing or specialty referrals, order diagnostic studies and interventional procedures. This role expands the responding clinician footprint to include weekend coverage, currently handled by a moonlighting fellow. The shift will involve a rotation of days and evenings, including some weekend and weekday holiday responsibilities.
Requirements
- Master's Degree Nursing required
- Registered Nurse MA
- Nurse Practitioner / Advanced Practice Registered Nurse
- Physician Assistant License
- Skilled in taking medical histories to assess medical condition and interpret findings.
- Ability to maintain quality control standards.
- Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
- Ability to interpret, adapt and apply guidelines and procedures.
- Ability to communicate clearly and establish/maintain effective working relationships with patients, medical staff and the public
Nice To Haves
- experience as a nurse practitioner 0-1 year preferred
Responsibilities
- Provides direct care, counseling, and teaching to a designated patient population in the ambulatory, inpatient, operative, and/or procedural setting
- Performs complete histories and physical examinations
- Orders, interprets, and evaluates appropriate laboratory and diagnostic tests
- Develops appropriate plans of care and follow-up based on the outcomes of diagnostic, laboratory, and physical examination findings
- Consistently provides high quality and timely documentation including admission and progress notes, procedure notes, operative notes and discharge summaries
- Performs bedside procedures as are appropriate to the patient population
- Orders medications and writes prescriptions according to organizational and regulatory policies and procedures
