Requirements

Master of Science in Nursing (MSN), Nurse Practitioner, or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP), Nurse Practitioner.
Graduation from a nationally accredited nursing program recognized by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).
Minimum of 24 months of full-time, dedicated pediatric medical patient care services as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner, in a credentialed primary care setting. This experience must be in a role specifically focused on providing medical care to pediatric patients.
Providers seeking clinical privileges through a DHA facility must have evidence of current clinical practice and must have actively practiced in their discipline within the past 2 years.
Current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice as a Nurse Practitioner.
Must be eligible and/or have and maintain an active, valid, current, and unrestricted State Controlled Substance License and be eligible to obtain a DEA license.
National certification as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP).
Possess current ARC or AHA BLS Healthcare Provider certification.
Must possess ability to pass a Government background check/security clearance .
This documentation must include professional references and verified privilege lists.

Responsibilities

Provider will be required to see a minimum of 100 bookable appointments per week, in accordance with the template manager, and cannot deviate without adequate justification.
The nurse practitioner may become the Primary Care Manager (PCM) for a panel of up to 1,300 patients.
As a PCM, the provider will be the primary person responsible for the management of the health and wellness of his/her assigned patients.
Direct, perform, or assist in the instruction of other health care professionals within the scope of the clinical privileges or responsibilities.
Examine, diagnose, treat, or prescribe courses of treatment within the scope of training, experience, and privileges.
Provide preventive and health maintenance care, including annual physical, positive health behaviors, and self-care skills through education and counseling.
Technically direct and teach other staff, provide evidenced-based educational lectures and participate in in-service training to staff members.
Order diagnostic tests as applicable as well as request consultation or referral with appropriate physicians, clinics, or other health care providers.
Provide a full range of primary care nurse practitioner services in accordance with privileges granted by the MTF.
Perform routine developmental screenings.
Diagnoses and treat common childhood illnesses.
Provide anticipatory guidance regarding common child health concerns.
Perform school and sports physicals.
Perform therapeutic procedures and prescribe pediatric treatment and medications based on assessment results and standards of care within the scope of practice of a nurse practitioner as defined and approved on the provider privileges list.
Examines, diagnoses, and treats acute episodic and chronic diseases, minor traumas and behavioral/psychological problems of newborns, infants, children, and adolescents up to age 18 years.
Identifies and manages specific pediatric illnesses.
Prepares and reviews case histories and clinical records of newborns, infants, children, and adolescents up to age 18 years.
Secures a health and developmental history from the patient or parent; records findings and makes critical evaluation.
Examine patients, determine need for radiological examinations Laboratory tests, and interpret examinations findings and test results. Also, performs or requests special screening and developmental tests and interprets the results.
Provides notification to patients of results and adjusts the treatment plans as clinically warranted.
Teach patients and family members different ways to maintain or improve their health status.
Provides healthcare and preventative services to pediatric patients and their family members, including age specific anticipatory guidance in growth and development, nutrition, common illnesses, safety, and discipline.
Evaluates clinical practice and collaborates with health care team members as the Primary Care Manager to improve patient delivery for an empanelment of pediatric patients.
Makes appropriate referrals to general pediatrician, family practice physician, and/or specialty physician as warranted.
Familiarity with Electronic Health Records, word processing, window-based programs.
Demonstrate ability to utilize verbal and written communication to work as a member of a team employing team building concepts in both multi- and inter-disciplinary settings to accomplish excellent patient care.
Must be able to utilize customer service skills in person, via phone and via secure messaging to promote positive staff and patient interactions.
Uses excellent internal and external customer service skills in the provision of care when interacting with patients and all staff demonstrated through care, concern, and compassion.
Completing any forms requested by patient/parent or as required by the military (i.e., overseas clearance, etc.)
Prepare records and reports as required in support of services rendered in accordance with established procedures.
Maintains documentation and data collection in accordance with DoD, DHA, local facility and other specified agency guidelines.
Attend and participate in daily clinic huddles, MTF meetings, patient care reports, patient care conferences, team conferences, professional staff conferences and other appropriate professional activities only to the extent that such attendance and participation is relative to his/her assigned cases and/or performance of services as determined by the supervisor.
