About The Position

This role will support the Avera Sioux Falls Medical Oncology patients and teams. The position involves providing appropriate medical care to all patients by assessing physical, psychological, and social dimensions to develop a plan of care. The individual will assess, diagnose, and treat patients according to medical staff approved protocols and acceptable standards of practice. They will also provide medical services and health education to patients and family members, contributing to health education for individuals and groups to increase motivation for self-care. Collaboration with physicians is essential for assessing, diagnosing, and treating patients. The role includes performing necessary diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, interpreting diagnostic information, and consulting with physicians on abnormal findings to establish a plan of care. The position also involves making appropriate patient referrals, providing quality care with attention to health, safety, and aseptic practices, and recognizing/reacting to environmental safety factors. The individual will contribute to the development and attainment of physician practice goals, practice according to approved protocols and licensing authorities, and understand/support practice policies. Maintaining patient records and accurate information is also a key responsibility.

Requirements

  • Must be licensed and qualified to practice in the state based off job assignment.
  • Federal Drug Enforcement Admin - US Department of Justice Drug Enforcement Admin State and federal based on state of practice Upon Hire
  • Certified Physician Assistant - National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) Upon Hire
  • Certified Nurse Practitioner (CNP) - Board of Nursing
  • Registered Nurse (RN) - Board of Nursing An active license in the state of practice Upon Hire
  • Visual acuity adequate to perform position duties.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others.
  • Ability to hear, understand and distinguish speech and other sounds.

Responsibilities

  • Recognizes and reacts appropriately to environmental safety factors related to patient care.
  • Effectively provides patient instruction related to environment of care and safety standards.
