About The Position

This role involves providing medical evaluation and treatment for John Muir Health patients in collaboration with and under the direction of a Supervising Physician. The Nurse Practitioner (NP) and Physician Assistant (PA) perform duties according to standardized procedures, assessing, diagnosing, and treating patients. They provide information on health maintenance, disease prevention, and counseling, working collegially with physicians. Both roles are responsible for required medical record documentation and patient messaging. Importantly, neither the NP nor the PA performs invasive procedures or assists in surgery in the operating room.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an Accredited School of Nurse Practitioner Program (MSN or DNP) - Required (for NP)
  • RN Registered Nursing - California Board of Nursing - Required (for NP)
  • NP Registered Nurse Practitioner - CA Board of Registered Nursing - Required (for NP)
  • NP-F Registered Nurse Practitioner Furnishing - CA Board of Registered Nursing - Required (for NP)
  • FNP Family Nurse Practitioner - ANCC American Nurses Credentialing Center - Required or Related NP clinical license or certification through ANCC or NP Nurse Practitioner - AANP American Academy of Nurse Practitioners – Required (for NP)
  • DEA Drug Enforcement Agency - US Dept of Justice - Drug Enforcement Administration - Required (for NP and PA)
  • BLS Basic Life Support - American Heart Association – Required (for NP and PA)
  • Graduate of an Accredited School of Physician Assistant - Required (for PA)
  • PA Physician Assistant - PAB California Board of Physician Assistant Board - Required (for PA)
  • CPA Certified Physician Assistant - NCCPA National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants - Required (for PA)

Nice To Haves

  • 2 years Healthcare – Experience in specialty - Preferred (for NP and PA)
  • ACLS Advanced Cardiac Life Support - American Heart Association – OR – ATLS Advanced Trauma Life Support – American College of Surgeons - Preferred depending upon Surgical Specialty (for NP and PA)
