Mayo Clinic’s Medical Oncology department is seeking a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) to join its Breast Oncology Care Team in a collaborative, academically rich outpatient practice. The role provides care for adults with breast cancer across the continuum of disease and treatment, working closely with physicians, nurses, pharmacists, allied health colleagues, and multidisciplinary specialists. The NP or PA sees patients at initial consultation in collaboration with an oncologist and independently follows established patients. The position includes ordering and managing systemic, curative, palliative, and supportive therapies; guiding patients through complex treatment plans; and addressing treatment-related toxicities, symptoms, survivorship needs, disease assessment, clinical trial care, and end-of-life support. Care may involve novel systemic and targeted therapies, immunotherapy, clinical trials, and precision oncology strategies. The role is part of a Breast Oncology Care Team comprising five collaborative teams and works with colleagues in Internal Medicine, Surgery, Radiation Oncology, Palliative Care, genetics, pathology, radiology, and other disciplines. The NP or PA supports continuity of care and timely treatment decisions, serves as a clinical resource for nursing and allied health colleagues, and coordinates care across disciplines. After establishing a clinical practice in breast oncology, cross-training in integrative oncology may be available, balanced with practice needs. Mentoring is available for academic, research, quality improvement, and educational pursuits.
