About The Position

The Nurse Practitioner will provide health care services to patients and as needed to support medical and safety efforts at large scale construction site. This is a part-time position requiring 20 hours per week during day shifts. The role involves providing first-aid, medical treatment, and follow-up for both occupational and non-occupational conditions, adhering to Workers’ Compensation standards and employer clinic guidelines. Responsibilities include performing regulatory testing, immunizations, blood draws, drug testing, wellness activities, and employee medical surveillance examinations. The position also entails case management for injuries, illnesses, and absences, counseling on risk reduction, and providing emergency medical treatment if necessary. Clinic management involves communication with the Medical Director and WorkCare Supervisor, maintaining employee health records and databases with a strong emphasis on HIPAA compliance, and developing good relationships with client management and personnel. Timely and accurate reporting is essential, along with performing additional duties as identified by the supervisor for efficient operation.

Requirements

  • Current, unrestricted Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant license in California with national certification in the state applying to
  • Must have unrestricted DEA license
  • Current ACLS/BLS certifications
  • A minimum of 3 years advanced practice experience
  • Prior occupational medicine experience preferred
  • Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Must be able to demonstrate the ability of maintaining privacy and confidentiality.

  • Must have the ability to gather data, compile information and prepare reports.

Responsibilities

  • Provides first-aid, medical treatment and appropriate follow-up to occupationally ill/injured workers consistent with appropriate Workers’ Compensation standards and laws.
  • Provides first-aid or minimal incidental care and treatment and appropriate follow-up for non-occupational conditions consistent with appropriate standards for an employer on-site clinic and laws.
  • Performs regulatory testing, TB tests, immunizations, blood draws, drug testing if required.
  • Performs other wellness activities, flu shots, education and coaching for programs as requested.
  • Performs examinations for employee medical surveillance programs including new hire, fit-for-duty, return-to-work, or exit exams.
  • Provides return-to-work clearances as appropriate.
  • Performs effective case management follow-up for injuries/illness and absences.
  • Provides counseling to employees on employment risk reduction initiatives as needed.
  • Provides emergency medical treatment and life saving measures if needed.
  • Maintains frequent communication with Medical Director and WorkCare Supervisor regarding all clinic issues and client requests.
  • Maintains employee health records and databases.
  • Computer data entry of all employee demographic and health information.
  • Responsibly handles and guards Protected Health Information.
  • Follows all applicable HIPAA laws, regulations, and guidelines.
  • Develops and maintains good relationships with client management, medical and safety personnel, co-workers and WorkCare supervisors and managers.
  • Communicates with appropriate client management frequently.
  • Provides timely, accurate reporting as dictated by client, WorkCare and by law.
  • Performs additional duties and assumes additional responsibilities as identified by supervisor for the efficient operation of WorkCare.
