About The Position

Hartford Hospital is seeking a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to join their Medical Intensive Care Unit & Step Down team. The Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner will provide direct critical care for complex critically ill patients requiring multiple technologies and advanced life support, consult for stepdown admissions into the emergency department, and perform bedside procedures including central and arterial line placements and advanced ultrasonography. Requirements

  • Unrestricted State of Connecticut Medical License (or eligible)
  • Certified or board-eligible Physician Assistant or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner
  • New graduates welcome to apply!
  • Extensive onboarding including a 4-6 month orientation with dedicated time for learning in the Center for Education, Simulation, and Innovation.

  • Critical care experience as an RN or Advanced Practice Provider

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct critical care for complex critically ill patients requiring multiple technologies and advanced life support.
  • Consult for stepdown admissions into the emergency department.
  • Perform bedside procedures including central and arterial line placements and advanced ultrasonography.
  • Perform routine physical examinations.
  • Formulate medical, educational, and psychosocial plans to treat patients.
  • Develop plans for further evaluation of health needs, e.g., referral to other health team members or specialists.
  • Provide appropriate treatment for problems within the scope of the provider’s practice as designated by protocols.
  • Identify problems outside of their scope of practice and refers appropriately to physician.
