About The Position

Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, is seeking a flexible Nurse Practitioner (NP), or Physician Assistant (PA), to be a part of the psychiatry hospital division multidisciplinary treatment team providing care to children, adolescents, and adults who require mental/behavioral health care. This highly professional clinician provides care to patients on the inpatient units as part of the orientation process with the goal of transitioning to the Psychiatry Emergency Services Unit after orientation. The NP/PA works closely with the multidisciplinary team in clinical decision making and treatment planning. In this role, the NP/PA will be a part of a newly constructed psychiatric specialty unit designed to best support patients with psychiatric emergencies. The NP/PA professional responsibilities will include acute psychiatric assessments for children and adults presenting to the Psychiatric Emergency Department, discharge recommendations, crisis planning, daily psychiatric rounds, admission interview and physical examination, managing ongoing medical and psychiatric issues, assessing new health concerns, working with consulting services in the work-up of developing medical issues and providing patients and families with education. Orientation will include time on the inpatient psychiatric units with planned transition to the Psychiatric Emergency Department with expanded evening, weekend, and holiday hours and eventual 24/7 coverage. Weekend frequency to be determined. During the selection process you may participate in an OnDemand (pre-recorded) interview that you can complete at your convenience. During the OnDemand interview, a question will appear on your screen, and you will have time to consider each question before responding. You will have the opportunity to re-record your answer to each question – Mayo Clinic will only see the final recording. The complete interview will be reviewed by a Mayo Clinic staff member and you will be notified of next steps.
