About The Position

We are searching for a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant who is motivated to work in Hematology/Oncology with Adolescent and Young Adult patients. This full-time position will support our Adolescent and Young Adult (AYA) population. Prior Hematology/Oncology experience preferred. Functions in collaborative practice with physician(s) in the inpatient and outpatient settings for medically complex oncology patients. Autonomously performs patient assessment, diagnosis, and intervention according to approved protocols. Supports physician to develop and maintain patients. Collaborates with specialties and maintains continuity of care. Provides coverage for physician(s) during periods of absence. Prescribes a variety of modalities to meet wellness and illness needs, up to and including hospital admission/discharge and prescriptive authority. Perform procedures including but not limited to bone marrow aspirates and biopsies and lumbar punctures.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Nursing as Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (for APRNs).
  • Minimum 2 years of pediatric nursing experience or related specialized area strongly preferred (for APRNs).
  • Master’s Degree in Physician Assistant Studies strongly preferred (for PAs).
  • Minimum of two years Pediatric primary/specialty or acute care setting experience OR 2 years' experience in related allied health field (i.e. family practice setting with heavy component of pediatric patients) strongly preferred (for PAs).
  • Current Texas professional registered nurse license (for APRNs).
  • Current Texas professional advance practice registered nurse license (for APRNs).
  • Recognition from the Texas State Board of Nurse Examiners as an Advanced Practice Nurse (for APRNs).
  • Certification as Pediatric or Family Practice Nurse Practitioner (for APRNs).
  • Current Basic Life Support (CPR) required.
  • Current Texas professional physician assistant license (for PAs).
  • Recognition from the Texas State Medical Board as a Physician Assistant (for PAs).
  • Certification as a Physician Assistant PA-C required (for PAs).

Nice To Haves

  • Prior Hematology/Oncology experience preferred.
  • Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) preferred (for APRNs).
  • Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) preferred (for PAs).
