The Division of BMT Bone Marrow Transplant and Immune Deficiency Program, within the Cancer and Blood Diseases Institute, is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant for their Inpatient Bone Marrow Transplant team. This role involves performing comprehensive patient care, including history and physical exams, diagnosing illnesses, formulating and monitoring treatment plans, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, and providing clinical consultation. The position also requires prescription of medications in accordance with legal and policy guidelines, and maintaining competency in subspecialty practice. Key aspects of the role include identifying and planning patient outcomes, developing individualized care plans, and incorporating evidence-based practices. The professional practice component involves maintaining professional behaviors, participating in quality improvement and research, engaging in lifelong learning, and serving as a preceptor or mentor. Care management responsibilities include promoting self-management and family-centered care, employing complex interventions, leading care management efforts for optimal quality and cost-effectiveness, documenting and communicating with the healthcare team, delegating tasks, providing consultation, making referrals, ordering treatments, and educating patients and families about results and therapies. The evaluation process is systematic and ongoing, involving patients, families, and other healthcare providers to revise care plans and recommend changes to processes, structures, policies, or protocols. The scope of this subspecialty role will not exceed that of the collaborating or supervising physician.
