About The Position

The Department of Emergency Medicine is seeking to hire additional Emergency Medicine Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants to join their Minnesota practice. This position will have a primary site in Austin, MN, with the capability to work in other sites in the future, including ERs in Austin, Albert Lea, Cannon Falls, Red Wing, Lake City, Mankato, Fairmont, Waseca, and St. James. These roles offer the chance to join and develop high-quality healthcare delivery teams committed to practice, education, and research. The Austin/Mankato/Rochester sites are primary training and orientation sites for Mayo Clinic’s EM NP/PAs in Minnesota. NP/PAs provide 24/7 coverage alongside physician colleagues and function as independent providers, collaborating with physicians and other healthcare professionals. Mayo Clinic Emergency Medicine has the BEST Program (Bootcamp Experience Staff Training), a comprehensive 12-month onboarding program that integrates didactic education, simulation, and AI-driven learning with hands-on clinical experience to equip participants for high-quality, evidence-based care. The NP/PA will provide comprehensive assessment, diagnosis, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, prescription of medications, and patient education. They will also perform procedures such as laceration repair, I&D, lumbar puncture, intubation, non-invasive airway management, fracture reductions, procedural sedation, and critical care management, with opportunities for solo practice at critical access hospitals.

Requirements

  • Must be a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant.
  • Willingness to work at primary site in Austin, MN and potentially other sites in the future.
  • Ability to provide 24/7 practice coverage.
  • Ability to serve as an independent provider.
  • Ability to collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals.
  • Willingness to participate in the BEST Program (Bootcamp Experience Staff Training) for onboarding.
  • Proficiency in performing procedures such as laceration repair, I&D, lumbar puncture, intubation, non-invasive airway management, fracture reductions, procedural sedation, critical care management.
