About The Position

UM Upper Chesapeake Health (UMUCH), a member of the University of Maryland Medical System (UMMS), has a full-time employed position available for a Critical Care Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) to join their practice located in Bel Air, MD. The APP will manage and treat hospital-based patients, predominantly in the IMC but will occasionally cover in the ICU. The APP will be a member of the critical care team whose predominant focus would be IMC level patients with high medical complexity. Provider should be comfortable caring for higher acuity patients. While procedure skills are not a must have to apply, the expectation is that this person will be trained and eventually expected to handle various procedural skills including central lines and intubations with on-site physician back up support. Nurse Practitioners must be acute care certified. Provider experience, specifically in critical care, is highly preferred.

Requirements

  • Master of Science degree with completion of an approved nurse practitioner or physician assistant program.
  • National certification in the area specialty and licensed by the Maryland Board of Nursing.
  • NPI number, DEA and CDS required.
  • Credentialing through the Maryland Board as well as the health system in the provision of advanced practice skills.
  • A minimum of five years’ experience as a midlevel provider in an acute care setting; full-time clinical role at UCH.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities.

  • Demonstrated skill in making effective decisions.

  • Nurse Practitioners must be acute care certified.
