About The Position

Tidelands Health is seeking a compassionate, evidence-based Nurse Practitioner specializing in Obesity Medicine to join our growing multidisciplinary team in Murrells Inlet, South Carolina. This provider will play a key role in addressing obesity as a chronic, treatable disease through comprehensive medical management, lifestyle intervention, and long-term metabolic care. The ideal candidate is passionate about preventive medicine, chronic disease management, and improving quality of life through individualized treatment plans. This position offers the opportunity to work collaboratively with physicians, dietitians, behavioral health specialists, exercise professionals, and bariatric surgery teams to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care.

Requirements

  • Master’s or Doctorate degree in Nursing from an accredited program.
  • Current Nurse Practitioner licensure in South Carolina or eligibility for licensure.
  • National board certification as Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP), Adult-Gerontology NP (AGNP), or related specialty.
  • DEA registration or eligibility.
  • Minimum of two years of advanced practice clinical experience in primary care, endocrinology, women’s health, internal medicine, or related setting.
  • Current licensure with South Carolina Board of Medical Examiners in good standing to practice as an APP Required
  • Current state and federal DEA Controlled Substance Licensure Required
  • Basic Life Support Certified - American Heart Association is required within 30 days of hire. Recertification every two years is Required

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in obesity medicine, bariatrics, endocrinology, or metabolic health.
  • Experience prescribing weight management therapies.
  • Familiarity with motivational interviewing and behavior change counseling.
  • Experience working in a multidisciplinary outpatient clinic.
  • Interest in pursuing obesity medicine continuing education or certification.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support Certified - American Heart Association Preferred

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate, diagnose, and manage patients with overweight, obesity, and related metabolic conditions.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans including: Nutrition counseling, Physical activity recommendations, Behavioral modification strategies, Anti-obesity medication management, Long-term maintenance planning.
  • Prescribe and monitor evidence-based pharmacologic therapies for weight management.
  • Order and interpret appropriate laboratory and diagnostic studies.
  • Provide pre-operative and post-operative support for bariatric surgery patients when appropriate.
  • Coordinate referrals to internal specialists and allied health professionals.
  • Educate patients regarding sustainable lifestyle change and disease prevention.
  • Maintain timely and accurate documentation within the electronic medical record.
  • Participate in quality improvement and population health initiatives.
