About The Position

As a Nurse Practitioner, your superior interpersonal and empathetic skills, as well as your comprehension of diagnostic procedures, will greatly assist you in providing medical services to patients. The NP in this role will provide inpatient consult coverage and serve as a first assist in the OR as part of a collaborative neurosurgery team. Prior operating room and/or ambulatory surgery experience is highly preferred. RNFA is required. STATUS: Full-time LOCATION: Rochester General Hospital DEPARTMENT: Neurosurgery SCHEDULE: Rotating 7-on/7-off schedule with call responsibilities.

Requirements

  • MS: Nursing (Required)
  • NP - Nurse Practitioner Certification - New York State Education Department (NYSED)
  • RN - Registered Nurse - New York State Education Department (NYSED)
  • M - Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior operating room and/or ambulatory surgery experience is highly preferred.
  • RNFA is required.

Responsibilities

  • Interact regularly with patients, family members, medical/social/public service support teams, regulatory agencies, and payor agencies. Communication requires empathy, problem-solving, education, information gathering, counseling, and process coordination.
  • Prescribe medication, write orders, perform procedures and respond to emergency and/or immediate condition changes of acute, critically ill patients.
  • Obtain complete, detailed and accurate patient histories, review patient records, perform physical exams, record all pertinent data to develop comprehensive medical status, diagnosis and clinical treatment plan for all assigned patients.
