About The Position

This position manages the physical and psychological problems of the patient. The Nurse Practitioner IV will identify normal and abnormal findings, implement and revise individualized treatment plans, and evaluate patient responses to medications and treatments. They will prescribe immunizations, seek appropriate consultations, and communicate effectively with physicians and other healthcare providers to ensure a continuous flow of patient care. The role involves initiating and maintaining Problem/Medication lists, ensuring documentation is complete, accurate, and timely. The Nurse Practitioner IV will assess patients, facilitate consultations, and direct patients to the appropriate level of care, communicating all pertinent information. They will also assist in identifying and utilizing resources for further treatment or rehabilitation. Leadership is demonstrated through problem-solving, critical thinking, and seeking assistance when appropriate. The role includes delegating patient care, maintaining accountability, functioning as a resource, and acting as a patient advocate. Additionally, the Nurse Practitioner IV will serve as a preceptor/mentor, assist in cost reduction, complete annual competency requirements, and ensure patient safety in compliance with hospital and physician policies. This includes adhering to infection control processes, utilizing proper patient identification, practicing National Patient Safety Goals, and assisting with departmental compliance with regulatory agencies, survey readiness, and medication reporting. Participation in office safety drills and on-call, weekend coverage, and first assist responsibilities are also required.

  • Directs patients to appropriate level of care and communicates all pertinent information.
  • Assists in identifying and utilizing resources and/or social agencies for further treatment or rehabilitation.
  • Demonstrates Leadership by utilizing the concepts inherent to the practice of the professional nurse.
  • Demonstrates an ability to solve problems independently utilizing critical thinking skills and seeks assistance from immediate supervisor when appropriate.
  • Delegates patient care appropriately.
  • Maintains accountability for actions taken.
  • Effectively functions as a resource person.
  • Acts as a patient advocate.
  • Performs effectively in the role of preceptor/mentor to new hires and /or students.
  • Assists in maintaining / decreasing organizational/department costs.
  • Completes all competency requirements annually.
  • Provides for patient safety in compliance with hospital and physician practices policies.
  • Adheres to infection control processes, including standard precautions, to reduce the risk of acquiring or transmitting infections.
  • Utilizes two forms of patient identification before implementing any form of patient care.
  • Practices all National Patient Safety Goals.
  • Assists in the department's compliance with all regulatory agencies.
  • Participates in continuous survey readiness for inspections and survey's.
  • Participates in the non-punitive medication reporting system.
  • Ensures accountability for narcotics per regulatory/organizational policies.
  • Participates in office fire, safety, utility, hazard, and disaster drills as required.
  • Participates in on-call, weekend coverage, and first assist responsibilities as required.

Nice To Haves

  • One (1) year of cardiology experience.
  • Experience with interpreting cardiac imaging and diagnostic testing.
  • Understanding and interpreting ECGs.
  • Experience managing acute and chronic cardiac issues. Including but not limited to acute coronary syndromes, arrhythmias, heart failure, pacemaker/defibrillators.
  • Willingness to train and interest in the Cardiology setting.
