This role involves managing the physical and psychological problems of patients, identifying normal and abnormal findings, and implementing, reassessing, and revising individualized treatment plans as needed. The Nurse Practitioner will evaluate patient responses to medications and treatments, prescribe immunizations, and seek appropriate consultations. Effective communication with physicians and other healthcare providers is crucial for achieving desired outcomes and ensuring continuous patient care. The position requires initiating and maintaining problem/medication lists, ensuring documentation is complete, accurate, and timely. Responsibilities include assessing patients, facilitating consultations, directing patients to the appropriate level of care, and communicating pertinent information. The role also involves identifying and utilizing resources and social agencies for further treatment or rehabilitation. Leadership is demonstrated through the practice of professional nursing concepts, independent problem-solving using critical thinking skills, and delegating patient care appropriately. Maintaining accountability for actions, functioning as a resource person, and acting as a patient advocate are key. The Nurse Practitioner will also serve as a preceptor/mentor for new hires and students, assist in managing organizational/department costs, and complete all competency requirements annually. Patient safety, adherence to infection control processes, utilizing proper patient identification, practicing National Patient Safety Goals, and assisting with compliance for regulatory agencies are essential. Participation in continuous survey readiness, the non-punitive medication reporting system, ensuring accountability for narcotics, and participating in office fire, safety, utility, hazard, and disaster drills are also required. On-call, weekend coverage, and first assist responsibilities may be required.
