About The Position

This opportunity is with a respected, community-based academic health system serving Southeast Alabama, Southwest Georgia, and the Florida Panhandle. The organization is the region's largest not-for-profit hospital system and includes a regional medical center, physician group, foundation, and an extensive network of primary care and specialty clinics. The role involves conducting comprehensive assessments of critically ill patients in the ICU, developing and managing treatment plans, managing ventilator-dependent patients, and responding to medical emergencies.

Requirements

  • Active or eligible Alabama APRN license
  • ACNP / AGACNP / FNP or equivalent certification, as applicable

Nice To Haves

  • Critical Care / ICU / Hospital Medicine / Emergency Medicine experience
  • Significant ICU nursing experience (for new graduates)

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of critically ill patients in the ICU.
  • Perform histories, physical examinations, and ongoing patient evaluations.
  • Develop and manage treatment plans in collaboration with intensivists and supervising physicians.
  • Order, interpret, and evaluate laboratory tests, imaging studies, and other diagnostic procedures.
  • Manage ventilator-dependent patients and patients requiring advanced hemodynamic monitoring.
  • Perform critical care procedures within scope of practice and credentialing, including arterial lines, central venous access, and other applicable procedures.
  • Respond to medical emergencies, rapid response calls, and code situations.
  • Participate in daily multidisciplinary rounds.
  • Coordinate patient care plans with physicians, nurses, specialists, and ancillary departments.
  • Provide patients and families with education regarding treatment plans and prognosis.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic health record (EHR).
  • Participate in quality improvement and continuing education initiatives.
