About The Position

The Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant is responsible for providing quality care to patients while under the supervision of a licensed physician. This role involves practicing medicine within the scope of license, training, and credentialing, adhering to current standards of care and quality criteria adopted by the Medical Staff Bylaws. The position also requires promoting a safety-conscious workplace, evaluating and following up with patients, and completing patient charting and paperwork in a timely manner. Additionally, the role includes participating in the development and/or review of office policies, supporting the Practice Manager, and demonstrating the ability to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individual patient care appropriate to the age of the patients served. Effective communication with patients of all ages and attendance at hospital-wide orientations, meetings, and in-services are also key aspects of this position. A commitment to flexible work scheduling when necessary to ensure patient care is expected.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited Physician's Assisting program with successful completion of the National Certifying Examination administered by the National Commission of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) or graduation from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program with successful completion of the National Certifying Examination.
  • Current, unrestricted license to work as a Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant in the Commonwealth of Virginia and/or the State of North Carolina
  • Current DEA certification without restrictions
  • BLS certification

  • 2+ years as a Physician Assistant, or Nurse Practitioner
