Emergency Department Nurse Practitioner (NP) At SGH, we pride ourselves on providing high-quality healthcare in a hometown environment. Simpson General Hospital is seeking a dedicated and experienced Nurse Practitioner to join our Emergency Department team. Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program (Master's Degree or higher)
  • Current Mississippi Nurse Practitioner license (Family, Adult, or Acute Care NP)
  • Prescriptive authority through the Mississippi Board of Nursing
  • Current DEA registration
  • BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications
  • Telemed certification
  • Minimum two (2) years of Emergency Department experience
  • Strong clinical assessment and critical-thinking skills
  • Proficient computer and electronic medical record skills
  • Compassionate, professional, and patient-focused approach to care

Nice To Haves

  • Previous Emergency Department Nurse Practitioner experience
  • Experience practicing in a rural healthcare setting

Responsibilities

  • Perform emergency department assessments and management of assigned patients.
  • Evaluate, diagnose, and treat acute illnesses and injuries.
  • Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests and procedures.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans.
  • Prescribe medications and other therapies within scope of practice.
  • Coordinate patient care and referrals as appropriate.
  • Collaborate effectively with emergency physicians, hospitalists, nursing staff, and ancillary departments.
  • Communicate patient conditions, treatment plans, and follow-up instructions clearly to patients and families.
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and timely medical documentation.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and department performance activities.
  • Attend required staff meetings, continuing education programs, and competency training.
  • Maintain compliance with all hospital policies, regulatory requirements, and infection prevention standards.
  • Conduct clinical rounding and monitor patient progress throughout treatment.
  • Support a positive team environment and adapt to departmental changes and needs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
