About The Position

The Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant is responsible for providing quality care to patients while under the supervision of a licensed physician. This role involves practicing medicine within the scope of license, training, and credentialing, adhering to current standards of care and quality criteria. The position also includes promoting a safety-conscious workplace, evaluating and following up with patients, completing charting and paperwork promptly, and participating in office policy development. The individual will support the Practice Manager and demonstrate the ability to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care appropriate to the age of the patients served, with a strong understanding of growth and development principles. Attendance at required hospital orientations, meetings, and in-services is necessary, along with a commitment to flexible work scheduling to ensure patient care.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited Physician's Assisting program with successful completion of the National Certifying Examination administered by the National Commission of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) or graduation from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program with successful completion of the National Certifying Examination.
  • Current, unrestricted license to work as a Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant in the Commonwealth of Virginia and/or the State of North Carolina
  • Current DEA certification without restrictions
  • BLS certification

  • 2+ years as a Physician Assistant, or Nurse Practitioner

Responsibilities

  • Practice medicine within the scope of license, training, and credentialing

  • Evaluate and follow up with patients
  • Complete patient charting and all required paperwork in a timely manner
  • Participate in the development and/or review of office policies and support the Practice Manager in their duties
  • Demonstrate the ability to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individual patient care appropriate to the age of the patients served by demonstrating a strong working knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span
  • Communicate appropriately with the person served, regardless of age
  • Attend required hospital-wide orientations, meetings, and in-services
  • Demonstrate a commitment to flexible work scheduling when necessary to ensure patient care
