About The Position

The Nurse Practitioner/APRN - ED (Midlevel) provides routine and emergency medical care, under the supervision of a licensed physician. The NP/APRN – ED work in collaboration with the licensed Emergency Medicine Physician who accepts responsibility for the services they render. All NP/APRN – ED charts must be reviewed and co-signed by the Physician prior to the conclusion of each shift. Neither WCCHC Emergency Department nor any regulatory agency seeks to micromanage the Nurse Practitioner/APRN – ED teams. The Midlevel Practitioner’s scope of practice is largely determined by the delegated decisions of the supervising Physician.

Requirements

  • Completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner training program.
  • AANP certification required.
  • Two to three years of post-graduate work experience in an Emergency Department required.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification required.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required.
  • Hawaii State Board of Medical Examiners licensure required.
  • Controlled substance prescriptive authority required.

Responsibilities

  • Provides routine and emergency medical care under the supervision of a licensed physician.
  • Collaborates with the licensed Emergency Medicine Physician.
  • Ensures all charts are reviewed and co-signed by the Physician prior to the conclusion of each shift.
