About The Position

In collaboration with supervising physicians, the APRN directly manages the care of complex acutely ill patients via face-to-face, telehealth, or other communication devices. The APRN is an expert in patient care who provides quality care, performs patient assessments, H & Ps, and takes a thorough medical history. The APRN can order and interpret laboratory and diagnostic tests. The APRN develops medical diagnoses, appropriate treatment plan, prescribes medical regimen, and educates patients/family regarding diagnosis and plan of care. May perform approved procedures and order medications as indicated in the Delineation of Privileges. The APRN works directly with physicians, staff, administration, patients and families to ensure quality of care across the health system. The APRN is a clinical team leader that intervenes and manages deteriorating patients. The APRN integrates evidence-based practice and technological advances into their scope of practice. The APRN may participate in research initiatives, data collection, quality improvement, discharge planning, and coordination of patient care within the area of practice. The APRN participates in and facilitates patient throughput, optimal patient outcomes, optimal length of stay and improved patient satisfaction.

Requirements

  • Masters degree.
  • Basic Life Support certification.
  • Advanced Practice Registered Nurse license.
  • Compliant with state of Florida requirements for CEUs and licensure.
  • DEA License required as per specialty/function.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support required as per specialty/function.
  • Nurse Practitioner National Certification required.
  • Obtain medical staff credentialing and privileges as needed for practice location.
  • 3 years of relevant RN experience required.
  • 3 years minimum experience.

Nice To Haves

  • If APRN requires hospital inpatient medical staff privileges and does not have an acute care certification, refer to BHSF Policy 701 titled Educational and training requirements to be credentialed to work in an acute care setting for Advanced Practice Registered Nurse.
