About The Position

Granite Hills Hospital offers high-quality, patient centered care for the greater Milwaukee community. With a wide range of treatment for children, adolescents, adults and older adults, our mission is to provide much needed outcome-focused care for those who need it most. Our new 120-bed facility will feature evidence-based treatment modalities and a multi-disciplinary team led by expert medical professionals. The 120 beds are split into 5 groups of 24 with enclosed outdoor spaces to promote healing. POSITION SUMMARY Oversees the quality of care delivered to his/her patients. Assesses clinical appropriateness for admission and collaborates with Assessment and Referral regarding potential admissions. Performs psychiatric assessments for individuals under his/her care. Completes documentation necessary to address patients hospitalized under civil commitment statutes. Provides individual therapy, family therapy and/or medication management as needed for patients under his/her care. Appropriately requests consultation when indicated. Provides psychiatric consultation when requested.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited medical school, completed residency in psychiatry, board certification preferred.
  • Licensed as a Medical Doctor (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.)
  • Prior experience in hospital based psychiatric practice and outpatient psychiatric practice preferred.
  • Must maintain active status with medical staff.
  • Strong clinical assessment skills and knowledge of crisis intervention procedures.
  • Knowledge of family and group therapy techniques.
  • Ability to sit for long periods (up to 8 hours).
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to reach above and below the waist, turn, twist and manipulate small tools (copier, computer, telephone, calculator, safe, fax machine).
  • Ability to move frequently in the completion of job requirements.
  • Ability to handle a variety of repetitive tasks.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and tasks under deadlines and with short notice.
