About The Position

The Center for Development and Disability (CDD), established in 1990, is New Mexico's University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities Education, Research and Service. These centers, authorized by the Developmental Disabilities Assistance and Bill of Rights Act, build the capacities of states and communities to respond to the needs of individuals with developmental disabilities and their families. Reporting to the CDD Medical Director, this position serves as a key leader and nursing co-manager for the UNM CDD’s Medically Fragile RN Case Manager program, specifically leading the Nurse Case Managers providing services in rural satellite offices statewide, providing clinical, operational and staff oversight for all aspects of this large, statewide Nursing Case Management program serving children and adults with medical fragility and developmental disabilities and their families to support their ability to access needed services and support in order to remain safely in their homes and home communities. This role leads staff onboarding, and provides supervision, training and mentorship for the satellite/rural Nurse Case Managers; oversees case assignments and coverage; supports fiscal and operational program aspects via monthly billing review and ensuring accurate and compliant documentation; attends budget meetings and works with the UNM CDD fiscal team to ensure program sustainability. The Satellite/Rural Team Nurse Manager serves as a co-manager for the program along with the parallel Metro Nurse Manager with whom they work collaboratively to ensure all program and staff needs are met. Specific duties for the Satellite/Rural Nurse Manager include oversight of and performing referral screening and preassessment reviews to determine program eligibility and appropriateness of services. This role also serves as a liaison with in and out of state agencies to ensure access to needed services, as well as with internal and external partners and collaborators, including MCO’s, nursing agencies, state leaders, and internal stakeholders to ensure program quality and compliance; the incumbent also provides community education on the population served and the program for a variety of constituents and learners. This is a remote satellite position requiring use of a personal vehicle for state travel to provide and observe home/community-based Nurse Case Management services statewide and occasional travel to the metro area for team meetings and coverage, as well as to attend partner and client meetings often held outside the office.

Requirements

Excellent writing and verbal communication skills.
3+ years’ experience providing community-based nursing services directly for clients/families.
Experience teaching or training nurses.
Demonstrated capacity to lead, support and organize teams.
Associate's degree in Nursing or directly related field/discipline.
At least 5 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
State of New Mexico Licensed Registered Nurse or licensure pending as documented by temporary licensure OR current RN licensure from a state participating in the multistate privilege to practice compact with New Mexico.
CPR Certified.
Passing a background check with fingerprinting.
Use of a personal vehicle for state travel.
