Requirements

  • Must always present as courteous and professional.

  • Completion of HPTC de-escalation training.
  • Strong and effective verbal, written, and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of basic computer skills and software programs, including the ability to learn, use, and train HPTC's electronic medical records.
  • Ability to provide leadership and program development within an outpatient site.
  • Knowledge of major clinical therapeutic models and behavioral health best practices.
  • Strong organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Five to eight years of direct care experience in a behavioral health and/or substance use disorder treatment setting.
  • Current and unrestricted license in Massachusetts as a Registered Nurse.

Nice To Haves

  • 2-5 years of supervisory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with Federal Regulations (42 CFR Part 2), HIPAA, DPH, DMH, Joint Commission, DEA, and other regulatory agencies.
  • Monitor patient needs, including medication administration, vital signs, medical care coordination, and withdrawal monitoring (COWS/CIWA).
  • Assist with discharge planning and care coordination.
  • Provide brief crisis counseling, individualized risk management, and safety planning.
  • Deliver psychoeducation to patients and staff on medical/nursing topics.
  • Ensure patient care meets best practice standards and complies with governing regulations and payor guidelines.
  • Uphold High Point policies and procedures.
  • Participate in the recruitment, hiring, promotion, training, and evaluation of nursing staff.
  • Assist in developing nursing and medication records for each patient.
  • Review and recommend changes to policies and procedures.
  • Report to the Infection Control Committee as needed.
  • Assist in monitoring inventory and ordering medications and equipment in collaboration with the pharmacy.
  • Manage the nursing budget for the unit.
  • Participate in quality assurance and quality improvement initiatives (Tally Card, CQI, failure mode projects).
  • Review Incident Reports and Sentinel Events.
  • Provide supervision for nursing staff.
  • Participate in required committee meetings.
  • Ensure proper disposal of medications.
  • Schedule nurses to maintain adequate staffing for daily unit operations.
  • Monitor open and closed charts for accurate and complete documentation.
  • Assist in the development and monitoring of programming schedules.
  • Attend monthly Nurse Managers meetings for consistency in nursing practice.
  • Attend mandatory training for professional growth.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Nursing, Site Director/COO.
