About The Position

The 1E Med-Surg/Observation Unit at St. Anthony Hospital is a 22-bed department that manages a high volume of patients monthly. This unit combines observation (14 beds) and inpatient (8 beds) status patients, accepting a variety of cases from the ED and surrounding free-standing EDs, with chest pain and abdominal pain being the top two diagnoses. Patients requiring care longer than 24-48 hours are transferred to inpatient status. The department's mission is to deliver safe, quality care in a timely manner. It's an ideal environment for those interested in emergency medicine, looking to solidify med/surg skills, develop time management abilities, and understand both ED and inpatient care. Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
Three (3) years RN experience
One (1) year clinical leadership experience
Current RN license to practice in state of employment as applicable
Nursing Specialty Certification: Sit within six (6) months, and must achieve within two (2) years of hire to the role.

Responsibilities

Lead the management of clinical nursing practices and patient care delivery on assigned unit(s), focusing on daily operations to achieve departmental goals and foster a high-quality care environment.
Manage human, fiscal, material, support, and systems resources.
Consistently promote a positive work environment, prioritize associate engagement, and support staff development needs with an emphasis on evidence-based practice and education.
Develop, monitor, and respond to a full range of financial, service, and quality indicators in all areas of responsibilities.
Ensure appropriate staffing plan matching competency with patient acuity.
Focus on patient safety, patient experience, and performance improvement in alignment with unit/department goals.
Involve associates in decision-making through a shared governance structure.
Maintain compliance with operational procedures/organizational policies for clinical activities and regulatory readiness.
Conduct an evaluation of productivity and collaborate with finance to forecast revenue and expenses to prepare and manage the unit/department’s budget.
Develop and maintain relationships with associates, physicians, and patients.
