About The Position

Responsible for the day-to-day operations and professional nursing practice of assigned unit(s). Responsible for hiring and firing of nursing personnel, periodic employee evaluations, orientation of new employees, and performance improvement activities. Responsible for cost center(s) budgets. Supervises RN's, Patient Care Associates, Clerical Associates and other clinical support personnel. Coaches and mentors the Assistant Nurse Manager, if applicable, for succession planning.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (BSN required for new hires effective August 1, 2013).
  • Previous supervisory experience.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to function independently.
  • Demonstrated management skills, conflict resolution, and negotiation techniques.
  • Knowledge of Joint Commission Standards and other regulatory standards.
  • Knowledge of hospital policies and procedures and the Collective Bargaining Unit Contract.
  • Licensed to practice nursing in the state of Florida.
  • BLS from the American Heart Association.
  • ACLS from the American Heart Association (required at hire or transfer for specific departments, or within 6 months for others).
  • PALS from the American Heart Association (required within 6 months of hire or transfer for specific departments).
  • NRP required within 6 months of hire or transfer for specific departments.
  • STABLE required within 6 months of hire or transfer for specific departments (effective 07/01/2018).
  • 1-2 years of Supervisory or Charge Nurse experience.
  • 3-5 years of Clinical experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's in Nursing or related field.
  • Professional Certification (required within two years of hire or transfer for new hires/transfers effective January 1, 2015).
  • Minimum of 3 years clinical experience with demonstrated increasing responsibilities.
